RAISING EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT CHILDREN

On this episode, I am joined by Nicki Hoffman to talk about her mission to eradicate childhood suicide by equipping kids with the skills and tools for mental and emotional intelligence & resilience.

She and her business partner, Adrian Moreno, realized that by equipping kids with the skills, tools, and mindset early on, the next generation could grow up being able to handle anything life brings their way.

She shares the warning signs to look out for, what NOT to do if your kids are presenting some red flags, and the importance of teaching our kids emotional intelligence as soon as possible.

Plus, she has one crucial tip for all of us parents on what we need to do in order to change the next generation.

ESSENTIAL MINUTE | NEROLI

After we were done recording, Nicki and I continued talking for awhile and she gave another great piece of advice. When your kids ask you about something, whether it’s suicide, sex, or some other topic you aren’t sure how to approach, take a minute and think about what your younger self would have wanted to hear.

Often forget to put ourselves in our kids shoes because our own worries and anxieties take over.

So in those moments, you can use essential oils to help calm your feelings, slow down your thoughts, and take away some of those anxious feelings. And one oil that I love to grab for in times like this is Neroli.

This oil can create an uplifting atmosphere, help reduce feelings of anxiousness, and encourages relaxation.

You can accomplish these all by rolling the oil on your wrists, over your heart, or on your neck. Or you can always smell it right out of the bottle because when you smell an essential oil, it works with our olfactory bulb in our nose which send singles to our brain that controls our moods and emotions.
